Our next Teacher and Adviser CPD Conference will be hosted by Didsbury High School in Manchester on Thursday 1st December 2022 from 9:45am - 3:30pm. Registration for this event has now closed.



Advancing Access events enable teachers, careers advisers and careers leaders to support more of their students to progress to some of the UK's most competitive universities. Our events are suitable for any professional who might be advising young people about their future.

Attendance at Advancing Access events is always free.

CPD sessions will be delivered throughout the day by university staff members, UCAS and teachers sharing good practice. The following CPD sessions will be available:

Our events

  • Our events feature a number of workshops and sessions which will help you to support your students in progressing to Russell Group universities
  • Interactive sessions include a combination of presentations, activities and discussion
  • Workshops are ran collaboratively by staff representatives from universities across the Russell Group and also teachers too providing a breadth of perspective, knowledge and expertise.


Our CPD events and conferences are open to teachers, careers leaders and advisers. Attendance is always free. At our events you will have the opportunity to:

  • Hear first-hand from Russell Group university staff from across the UK
  • Keep abreast of the latest developments in higher education which will affect your students
  • Direct any questions you might have to our university staff
  • Network with other professionals
  • Learn more about the outreach opportunities which are on offer from our university partners

Frequently asked questions

We recommend using public transport wherever possible. You may wish to follow the route below.

Train and tram
Aim to get to the Deansgate train station, which is a 10 minute walk from Manchester Oxford Road train station.

You can then catch the tram from the neighbouring Deansgate-Castlefield tram stop. Catch a tram towards East Didsbury (pink or grey line) getting off at Withington (approx 14 minute journey). Trams run every 5-10 minutes. The venue is a 5-10 minute walk from the Withington tram stop.

If you can only get to the Manchester Piccadilly train station, you can catch a tram from there which is headed for Eccles or Altrincham however you will need to change at Deansgate-Castlefield (before then following the instructions above).

Arrival by car

The school postcode for sat navs is M20 2ET.

The school has a small number of parking spaces, however these will only be available for those with accessibility requirements. Other attendees will be able to park on the streets surrounding the school. 

Registration will close as soon as all the places are allocated or on Sunday 27th November, whichever is soonest.

Our CPD conferences are completely free to attend and a free lunch and refreshments will be provided.

Yes, multiple staff members from the same school or college may attend. Each attendee will need to register individually.

Please cancel your place so that we can allocate it to someone else. You can do this by clicking on the manage your booking link in your confirmation email. Alternatively, you can contact us and we can cancel your place for you.

Yes, a free lunch and refreshments will be provided for attendees. If you have particular dietary requirements, please make sure you register before Thursday 17th November 2022 otherwise we may not be able to cater to your requirements.
